Mary Berry’s Scones

This was tonight’s midnight snack during a ridiculous marathon of watching The Office. I think Netflix has caused an unhealthy addiction to Steve Carell…

Anyway I think these may be the best scones I have ever made, possibly because I remembered to keep the dough very thick when I cut the shapes so they were huge. (A few attempts in the past have ended up as Squibbets – somewhere between a scone and a biscuit).

I followed a slightly different method as Mary uses a food processor, whereas I prefer to do it by hand the way my dad taught me.  Rub the butter into the flour to form crumbs, add the sugar and then the wet ingredients stirring with a knife until it forms into a dough.

These only took 20 minutes to make and they tasted splendid, especially with my homemade Christmas jam (recipe to come later). So here it is, enjoy:  Mary Berry’s Scones.
